Event Details

Join us on January 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Blount Mansion Visitors Center for an opportunity to learn about the unique connections between London and Knoxville as renowned master woodworker and restoration expert, James Hooper gives one of his final public lectures on cabinetmaking in the Georgian era. Attendees will be given special access to closely examine one of the finest pieces in Blount Mansion’s collection, the Campbell's Secretary. This piece is a Georgian secretary that was built by the area's most well-known and celebrated craftsman, Thomas Hope, and belonged to Judge David Campbell, a Revolutionary soldier, State of Franklin official, and early territorial and state judge. The secretary recently returned to Blount Mansion after an extensive nine-month, painstaking, and challenging restoration conducted by James Hoper.

Don't miss your chance to see one of early Tennessee's finest pieces up close and learn all about what it took to restore it!

Tickets are $25 and include access to the lecture and refreshments. Tickets are available online or you can RSVP by calling 865-525-2375 or by email at info@blountmansion.org. If you need any additional information please call or email. All event proceeds benefit the continuing conservation of artifacts in the Blount Mansion historical collection.
